Basically a tool is inserted in to the lock and the wafers inside are manipulated in to position, just like then cuts in the key would.
Once all the wafers are lined up, the lock will open.

I started my car yesterday morning as I bought a new battery over weekend and wanted to check it was still running, I went back into the house to make a brew whilst leaving it running and when I came back out the central locking had kicked in and I didn't have a spare key! We rang a locksmith at 8am who said they would be there within the hour, phone calls and texts later to the company and they still had not been by 11.30am so the car had been running for 3 and a half hours! So I cancelled the first company and I ended up ringing Aston Access Locksmiths. Spoke to Laura who was lovely and very professional, she said she would ring me back within 5 minutes with a price and is anyone was available and she did. Chris was there within half an hour and did a great job. During this time the first company I called turned up and I told them I was not paying them a cancellation fee as I had waited too long so they drove off. Aston Access were very professional and a very good price, I'm sorry I did not ring them in the first place. I would highly recommend them to family and friends.
